Why people love it
Tokyo runs one of the biggest transit networks on Earth, and normally you can only see pieces of it: a metro line in one app tab, a bus route in another, an airport screen. The side-project idea was to put every mode on one map — trains, buses and planes, all moving in real time — and the result is a city that finally looks like what it is: a single enormous machine.
People love it for the scale alone. Watching a Yamanote loop full of trains slide around the circle while orange Chuo trains dive toward the center, buses crawl the backstreets and a plane arcs off over the bay is a genuinely moving sight — the map is alive in a way timetables never are. It's also a practical cauldron: route delays become visible as a gap in the stream, and planned changes read as a wobble you can see minutes before the announced time.
